What the heck is Radon?
Radon is a decaying bi-product of Uranium. Uranium has a half-life of 4.5billion years, so it’s going to be around for a while. Radon is completely invisible to the human senses. You can’t taste or smell Radon. Radon is a Radioactive Noble Gas. As Radon decays it emits Alpha Rays that damage the respiratory system in people and pets. Radon is the number 1 cause of Lung Cancer in non-smokers, and the 2nd leading cause of Lung Cancer next to cigarettes.
Is Radon Hocus Pocus?
We understand that there are some people that think Radon is hocus pocus. I have yet to hear someone say that breathing in a radioactive gas that gives off Alpha Rays sounds like a good idea. There is enough scientific evidence that suggests it a major health concern. Why put you family at risk?
Do we have to install a Mitigation System?
No you do not have to. Once you know your home has High Radon Levels. You must repair it or declare it when you put your home on the real estate market. This is law!
Am I the only one with Radon in my neighborhood?
Not necessarily. Chances are that if your home Tested high then your neighbors will too. Usually Radon only comes up in real estate transactions. Sometimes it’s because a loved one was lost. Make a pledge with us that losing our loved ones to a Cancer causing Carcinogen is unacceptable!! Don’t put a dollar amount on our lives!! Spread the word take a stand with us!!
If Radon is such a problem why don’t I have Lung Cancer after living with it for so many years?
Radon is a silent killer. If it gets you it will creep up on you as if you had smoked for 50 years. Health concerns from Radon take many years before you can have trouble. It has been said that a level of 10pCi/L if you spend 8 hours in the environment, its equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes. If you decide to live in a home with high Radon, in a way you are smoking.
